In the context of the ERASMUS+ project “Training for Inclusion”, coordinated by Association BioLiving, several collaborators of its team have had the opportunity to increase their training to educate adults, as well as to create new ties and international contacts, in different European destinations.
In this article, you can learn about the experience of four employees of the Association, in Tenerife.
In May of 2022, Daniela, Lara, Joana and Catarina participated in a training course in Tenerife, Spain, called “Outdoor and nature-based education and experiential learning”.

This course, led by the Associación Socio-educativa EDUPLUS, aimed to explore active and experiential learning methodologies in an “outside the classroom” context, in response to the progressive recognition they have gained in recent decades. The training was essentially divided into two parts, the methodology workshops inside the classroom, namely active learning and emotional management and outdoor activities, namely guided tours, with a focus on experiential education, multidisciplinarity and inclusion. In addition to Portugal, European countries such as Romania, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Greece and Croatia were represented.
By exploring this new approach proposed by the course, our collaborators had the opportunity to reflect on numerous aspects relevant to education, including the role of laughter in the involvement and motivation of the trainee; the effectiveness of a solutions-oriented approach as opposed to a fear-based approach, particularly in the context of global change; the impact of creating environments conducive to sharing on learning and, finally, on investing in inclusion and the importance of the historical-cultural identity of communities in creating tools and solutions for their local and global challenges.
Finally, in addition to the learning provided by the trainers, our collaborators were also able to share perspectives and experiences with groups from other countries, bringing a set of new ideas and methodologies that will be used to improve the work of the Association and bring Nature and Education for all!

This course took place within the scope of our Erasmus+ project "Training for Inclusion", which aims to train employees of Associação BioLiving with pedagogical, inclusion, linguistic and management skills, applied to the context of adult education.
